The AASA (Aylsham Show) donates surplus proceeds to mainly local charitable causes, and other charitable institutions, making a real difference in the local community. Subject to the Show being able to do so, this would normally take place at a Presentation Evening in January each year before the AGM.
The annual presentation evening to charitable organisations took place at the Aylsham Town Hall on Monday 15th January 2024.
David Hitcham – Event Organiser – said that there were 55 Organisations represented and they received £21850 in total from the surplus proceeds of the 2023 Aylsham Show. Well over £1 million pounds has been donated by The Aylsham Agricultural Show Association Limited since the Show began in 1946.
Everybody who applied this year had received a donation and these ranged from £250 upwards to the largest donation of £1200 to the Aylsham Flower Club who raised the majority of this amount on Show Day from their Flowers Auction.
David said that is was virtually impossible to give monies to some and not to others and the Executive Committee of the Show wanted to ensure all of these deserving causes received something.
Retiring Chairman: Mike Gamble welcomed everybody, and retiring President: Roger Long summed up by saying what an honour it had been for him to present these monies to so many charitable organisations and how humbled all those present were to hear the many great stories of what is going on within Aylsham and the surrounding areas, and how so many vulnerable people of all ages are being helped by so many caring volunteers.
Thanks to Ian Gravenell who took the photo at the end of the presentations.
