Food, Farming and the Countryside Discovery Zone

Food Farming and Countryside Discovery Zone

At the heart of the Aylsham show are our core values of educating people on food, farming, the countryside and  the environment. This is where our Education area comes in, creating a vibrant space where the public can learn about agriculture, where their food comes from and the environment that surrounds us.

Throughout the day there are various free activities hosted by key local organisations designed to cultivate thinking on our agricultural surroundings and its importance to our everyday lives.

For 2024, organisations attending include:

Norfolk Young Farmers Clubs

Food and Farming Discovery Trust

Compassion in World Farming

Aylsham Slow Food

City College Norwich and Easton and Paston Colleges

The Papillion Project

Norfolk Farm Machinery Club (Aylsham Branch)

New for 2024

The area will also be hosting talks from key local figures to inspire the next generation. We would encourage the younger children with some participation. See below:

10.am         Papillon Talk

10.30am   Story telling Suzanne Arnold

11.30am    Story Telling Suzanne Arnold

12 noon     Eves Hill Veg Co Talk

3.pm            Story Telling Suzanne Arnold

4.pm            Talk TBC

Also within this area, there will be displays throughout the day from The Sheep Show.

The work the Education sub-committee do to deliver this area would not be possible without the help of not only the organisations present and the Sponsors listed, but also The Morley Agricultural Foundation for whose support we are incredibly grateful. More information on this charity and the wonderful work they do in the agricultural community can be found here: https://tmaf.co.uk

This area will also include information and the Winners of the Farm Business Competitions and Farm Hero Awards.

The Food Farming and the Countryside Discovery Zone Marquee can be found near the Agricultural Trade Stands area. It will be well signposted.

We look forward to welcoming you for a day of fun and farming!

We are so very grateful for the grant we receive from The Morley Agricultural Foundation, which is so vital towards setting up the infrastucture of this Area.
